For a 3 Day Weekend, a group of four friends decide to shake things up in their usual routine and they each invite a single friend to see what happens. One of the “friends” is a hustler paid for the weekend. New relationships form, some get re-affirmed and others end.
Crutch
Crutch, “based on a true story”, tells the story of David (Eben Gordon) whose home life is falling apart with a philandering father and an alcoholic mother. David falls under the spell of his acting teacher Kenny (Rob Moretti – actor, writer, and director of the film). The controlling Kenny at first provides an escape from David’s family, but his situation doesn’t improve as he spirals down into drug abuse and confusion over his relationship with Kenny.
Wrangler: Anatomy of an Icon
This biography takes us through the life of Jack Wrangler with a series of interviews with Jack Wrangler, various actors, filmmakers and celebrities. We go fromhis early life in Beverly Hills as the son of a filmmaker father and a former model, to his early childhood in show business through his time as an actor first in gay and then in straight porn until the present. Wrangler had a series of small parts in legitimate theatre, TV, and movies, even an appearance on “The Dating Game”. Eventually working his way to be a stripper, despite the fact that he couldn’t dance, he takes a role in a play with a nude scene and from there moves into gay porn. Eventually, he switched to straight porn for the money, despite being gay. Also explored is his romance with singer Margaret Whiting to whom he eventually married. All in all, an interesting movie; nice to see a porn actor who made it through AIDS, drugs, and other perils of the adult film industry.
10 Attitudes
Josh (Jason Stuart), a successful caterer, comes home early and catches his lover of 10 years with another, much younger, man. After a little trauma, a friend convinces him to try dating 10 guys prior to packing it all in and moving back home. 10 Attitudes follows Josh’s humourous attempts to find a man, going through hustlers, married men, and the boy band obsessed. Jim J. Bullock, Judy Tenuta, and David Faustino put in appearances. Make sure to check out the DVD extras.
Surge of Power: the Stuff of Heroes
In Surge of Power, young Gavin (Vincent J. Roth) is a corporate attorney and a comic book nerd. One day while visiting the company lab to get some paperwork signed, an evil mad scientist breaks in and causes an accident giving Gavin superpowers. With the aid of a not-so-mad scientist (Robert Hurt), Gavin sets out to become Big City’s latest superhero: Surge. Surge takes on the evil Metal Master to save Big City not to mention a certain Young Man (Joey Bourgeois) who always seems in need of rescue.
The movie is full of comic book and science fiction references to keep most of us sci-fi geeks happy. Noel Niell, Lois Lane from The Adventures of Superman (1950’s TV show) appears as the Young Man’s Aunt Lois, scolding him for always getting into trouble. We also get Nichelle Nichols (Star Trek’s Lt. Uhura) as a semi-retired superhero who helps Surge get his bearings. And Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk) in a cameo appearance.
The gay content is left “ambiguous”, like certain superhero relationships, but you don’t have to look very hard.
More caps after the jump.

Luster
In Luster, Jackson (Justin Herwick) works in a record store and longs to be a poet. Jackson is obsessed with Billy (Jonah Blechman) a guy he met at a party who can’t be bothered and is oblivious to the guys who do want him: Derek (Sean Thibodeau), a customer in the record store, and Sam (Shane Powers), his straight friend who owns the record store who’s having major problems dealing with his attraction. And then Jackson’s hot cousin Jed (B. Wyatt) shows up drawing Jackson’s interest and tempting the local lesbians to go straight. A fair amount of comedic set ups, but not a happy movie.
