Welcome to New York

Welcome to New York is a short film from Steven Tylor O’Connor which follows the trials and tribulations of five young people in New York City tied together through their visits to their therapist (Sherry Vine).  Cassie (Megan Kane) is trying to learn confidence.  Mick / Lauren (Nick Page/Lauren Ordair) tries to find a relationship where her drag persona is accepted.  Ryan (Matthew Watson) is trying to find a girl who’s not nuts.  Simone (Ashleigh Murry) likewise wants a sane guy.  Jake (Sean Paul Lockhart) is trying to get on the same page as the man of his dreams.

A fun short film, well done and worth a watch.

Bedrooms and Hallways

In Bedrooms and Hallways, Leo (Kevin McKidd) is a gay man just turning 30.  A straight frined convinces him to join his men’s group.  During the passing around of the “truth stone,” Leo confesses his attration for Brendan (James Purefoy), another member of the group. Leo’s discussion in the group brought another member Terry (Con O’Neill) to the realization that he’s interested in gays.  When Terry shows an interest in Leo, Brendan starts to get jealous.  Leo and Brendan continue to develop a friendship and Brendan’s curiosity leads them to get intimate.  Meanwhile, Leo meets Brendan’s ex-girlfriend Sally who turns out to be his “teenage sweet heart” and he rekindles his friendship with her while trying to keep his relationship with Brendan a secret.

Meanwhile, Leo’s roommate Darrin (Tom Hollander) is seeing a real estate agent (Hugo Weaving) who uses the houses he’s showing for their sexual trysts.

McKidd and Purfoy were together again in Rome with less kissing but probably more skin.

Brian (Stewart Carrico) struggles with keeping the fact that he’s gay from his conservative Southern mother Mae, who’s constantly trying to fix him up with girls.  Even breaking up with his boyfriend Dennis (Brett Holland) to keep his secret.  When she and his aunt Rose overhear a conversation that arouses her suspicions, she and her sister take a magazine quiz that confirms their suspicions.  After exploring and being horrified by conversion therapy, her efforts to get her son in a relationship kick into high gear and Mae and Rose set out to find him a new boyfriend.  gay men on the internet (with the help of the neighbor’s son Greg (Chirs Nolan), in bars, and getting advice from drag queens.  Finally, she settles on Chase (Steve Snyder), an art student and go-go boy, only to find that Brian has decided to get married:  to a woman.
